Grounds Maintenance is a difficult and skilled occupation. Due to the fact that most of your day will be spent outside in unpredictable and sometimes extreme (rain, frost etc.) conditions, you will have to deal with various types of weather. Physical demands for this job include repetitive activities involving heavy machinery, lifting, digging and mowing. These actions can cause long-term damage to your body. Many workers start early and there are times during the year when the workload is extremely high; the spring and summer seasons are some of these busy times. In addition to being physically demanding, the job requires a good understanding of gardening or horticulture, along with an eye for detail and effective management skills for coordinating and completing multiple site tasks.
